Motherwort Herbal Soup (益母草汤) is meant for first week of confinement as part of confinement meal after childbirth. Motherwort Herbal Soup recipe consists of dang gui, ze lan, yi mu cao and red dates which has the benefits and functions in improving blood circulation, clear blood stasis and treating prolonged lochia.

Motherwort Herbal Soup Confinement Food

Herbs

  1. 10g Dang Gui (Chinese Angelica, 当归)
  2. 30g Yi Mu Cao (益母草)
  3. 10g Red Dates (红枣)
  4. 10g Ze Lan (泽兰)

Ingredients

  1. 250g Lean Pork
  2. Salt

Method

  1. Wash all herbs and put in a pot.
  2. Add 2000ml water.
  3. Soak for 30min.
  4. Add blanched pork.
  5. Bring to boil.
  6. Reduce heat and simmer for 2 hours.
  7. Add seasoning and serve.
