White Dahlia Root (白芍) or Bai Shao has the function of nourishing blood, balancing hyperactivity of liver to relieve the pain. Bai Shao is used as ingredient for confinement food, has a bitter taste, slightly sour and slightly cooling in nature. It provides health benefits in nourishing the blood and regulates menses, calms liver, restrains excessive perspiration and eases pain. However, it is not to be used as a single herb for women after childbirth due to its cold nature. Not suitable for people who have weak, cold body conditions and prone to diarrhea.
